Everything's ROSES

Spring has arrived & so too have gorgeous new prints at Spotlight. (Sad but we spend hours in there.)

After making a 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' flag, I thought I'd have a go at 'ALANNAH'

Must say the photos don't do it justice but it is VERY girlie!

Groovy Baby!

What do you do when missy is a size 0 around the waist but a size 2 in length? Add extensions of course. We had lots of fun choosing groovy pieces of material at Spotlight!

Lemon

I know I've become slack, but I'm not totally satisfied with the layout of this blog so my enthusiasm has disappeared. Thanks to sis Elicia who is my number one blogger fan, otherwise this would be a hobby of the past!
Not that I haven't got lots of new projects happening! Just need to take photos to put up. One of my newest discoveriers is a new lemon cake recipe. It is sooooo quick & easy & mixed all in the one bowl! So for all those lucky enough to have a lemon tree (also great for hiding Easter eggs under) here's my famous lemon cake recipe (atcually I stole it from someone's grandma on the net)
Preheat oven to 180 C. Put 2 eggs, 200mls cream & 3/4 cup sugar into a bowl & mix. Add zest of 2 lemons, then stir in 1 1/4 cups sifted SR flour. Line a cake tin, pour in the mixture & cook for 45 minutes.
When cake is cooked & still warm, spread butter over the top & cover with a mix of 2 tb.spoons of sugar & 1 t.spoon of cinnamon. Then sprinkle the juice of the 2 lemons over the cake & leave to cool. (This also works with oranges)

Adventure

The Melbourne Museum is a wonderful, educational & inexpensive place to visit. (FREE for children, teachers - that's me, concession holders & I think pensioners too. Everyone else $6)
We often spend a few hours in Alannah's favourite exhibits. The dinosaurs, the rainforest & the Children's Gallery. Not to mention the outside play area.
Just don't forget to think creatively when your children decide to play with the dress ups! (Alannah's a Mermaid if you couldn't tell)

Activities

Cold, wet Winter days have arrived hey? Although we love gardening (well that's what Alannah calls it went we pick weeds) another favourite thing we love to do is visit The Royal Botanic Gardens.
There are wonderful Autumn leaves to frolic in, great puddles to jump in & The Ian Potter Children's Garden to explore & dig in. The children's garden is open Wednesday to Sunday but unfortunately it is closed this term until August 30th (Boo Hoo)

Cakes 2

Just because I spend most of my free time around children doesn't mean I've forgotten what adults like either. Here are some examples of 'grown up' cakes

Cakes

Making a child's birthday cake is something every parent will face in their lifetime. Luckily some great ideas from the Women's Weekly cookbooks, patience & lots & lots of love has made this daunting task quite fulfilling.
Family & friends interested in purchasing a personalized, home made yummy cake please let me know. Don't be shy... I have lots of time.
